Philosophy

Dr. Bartok's instructional philosophy includes the following core beliefs:

  • A college education should challenge students to gain new knowledge and skills, consider them with and against previous experiences and personal perspectives, and integrate these pieces into a new “whole.”
  • Learning experiences should be aimed not only at gaining knowledge and skills that directly related to future professional goals, but also providing experiences that help you learn “who you are” and how you fit into the world around you.
  • Learning is increased when students are challenged to think deeply and critically in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Learning never stops – my time in the classroom is an opportunity to continue to grow and learn as well!
