Hear from the Commencement Speakers:
“CONGRATULATIONS, Class of 2022! I hope that, if you haven’t already, you make time in this hectic season to inventory and honor the tremendous growth you’ve experienced over the course of your time at Bastyr; and in that reflection, remember the multiple times you did something you thought you couldn’t. May those moments and memories empower you as you step across this threshold and into a new version of yourself.”
Meghan Dewees-Kern, Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, Graduate Candidate Address, San Diego Campus
"We, the class of 2022, have been called to rise up as pioneering leaders to mobilize future generations to embrace a patient-centered model of health care focusing on proactive prevention and the empowerment of a thriving population. It is my faith and belief in something greater than myself coupled with my respect for science, the unwavering love and support of my husband, and my devotion to finding a better way to practice medicine that inspires me to experience all life has to offer and continues to embolden my journey in naturopathic medicine. It was through Bastyr’s environment of autonomy within a framework of mentorship that allowed me to become the woman and naturopathic doctor that I am today."
Autumn Dugas, Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, Doctoral Candidate Address, San Diego Campus
“When we’re surrounded by like-minded individuals learning and growing alongside us, it’s not always easy to recognize our own educational strides. The gradual cultivation of intellect and intuition is unnoticeable day to day but dazzling towards the end process. The stories, the dreams, and the ambitions that have blossomed emanate a contagious optimism for the future of holistic healthcare. Class of 2022 has demonstrated unparalleled resiliency, and we are well poised to inspire our new communities with the seeds that have been planted during our time at Bastyr.”
Anya Hanson, Bachelor of Science in Herbal Science, Bachelor Candidate Address, Seattle Campus
"While society has increasingly fractured in the last few years, our class has persevered, using our medicine not only to heal patients, but to contribute to the mending of the world. Now we continue to be bold, brave, and compassionate, helping to build resilience in our communities to rise above challenges they will face."
Jeehah Yu, Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, Doctoral Candidate Address, Seattle Campus
